Thoughtful Klondike
(...) [A] modified version of the game called "Thoughtful Solitaire" or "Thoughtful Klondike", in which the location of all 52 cards is known. (...) Thoughtful Klondike is not quite the same as simply playing with all cards face up, as this would allow an impossible movement of a pile if the top downturned card happened to be in sequence with the upturned card underneath it. (...) Because the only difference between the two games (regular and thoughtful) is the knowledge of card location, all thoughtful games with solutions will also have solutions in Klondike. —Wikipedia, Klondike. Gameplay
Just like in regular Klondike, the goal of the game is to move ("build") all cards to the foundation, sorted by suit (diamonds, clubs, hearts, spades) and in ascending order (A-K).
Only the highlighted cards are available for play at any given moment. The dimmed cards are visible but "covered" and therefore cannot be moved.
In the stock either all cards are playable or only every third card, depending on the mode of play. Just like in Klondike, playable cards from the stock can be moved to either the tableau or directly to the foundation. Playing a card from the stock causes the card immediately to its left to be uncovered (if it was covered), and all cards to the left of that to be covered. This is analogous to playing a card from the waste in regular Klondike, which causes the next card at the top of the waste to be available but keeps all the cards below that one unavailable.
Cards can be temporarily placed ("packed") in the tableau alternating color (red-black) and in descending order (K-A).
Any number of cards can be moved between columns in the tableau as long as both the color alternation and the descending order are preserved.
A covered card in the tableau can only be opened after removing all the cards that are partially covering it.
The cards in the stock can be re-dealt (i.e., make available again) either an infinite number of times, two times, or zero times, depending on the mode of play.
Speaking very loosely, informal tests show the rate of success of a given player is around twice as high in Thoughtful Klondike as it is in regular Klondike, assuming the player is about equally experienced in both.
